Kitchissippi, meaning "the Great River", is the former Ojibway name for the Ottawa River. The name was given to the Kitchissippi Lookout, overlooking the Ottawa River, and was adopted for the city council ward in the area when the new city of Ottawa was formed in 2001. Including the neighbourhoods of Westboro, West Wellington, Hintonburg, Hampton Park, Island Park, McKellar Park, Civic Hospital, Highland Park and Carlingwood, Kitchissippi is an area steeped in history and is one of Ottawa's fastest growing and most vibrant communities. Kitchissippi has a diverse population of almost 37,000 people with higher-than-average income and rising property values.

The Kitchissippi Times is Kitchissippi's locally owned and operated community newspaper. Filled with colourful and vibrant editorial and photography, the Kitchissippi Times covers and celebrates the interesting people and events of this dynamic neighbourhood. And it's the only newspaper that effectively delivers the exact audience that local advertisers are seeking in this rapidly growing area.

The Kitchissippi Times is delivered 20 times a year to homes in the area bounded by the Ottawa River in the North, Carling Avenue in the South, the O-Train tracks in the East and Woodroffe in the West.
